Full-cover tips and Gel-X: what is the difference?
A full-cover tip covers the entire nail plate and provides a pre-shaped extension. Gel-X® is Aprés Nail’s system; full-cover tip extensions describe the broader technique. The products presented here are Beauty Distribution references.
How to choose full-cover tips
1. Select shape and length
For short nails, compare round tips with a rounded outline and square tips with a straight free edge. Almond has a tapered outline with a rounded point. Coffin or ballerina combines tapered sides with a straight end, while stiletto finishes in a point.
Try tips on each nail before applying gel. The correct size covers the nail from sidewall to sidewall without pressure. A narrow tip puts pressure on the nail; a wide tip extends beyond it. Follow the product guidance for any adjustment.
3. Match curvature to the natural nail
Curvature and apex vary between models. Check the fit dry and read the product details: similar shapes do not necessarily have the same curvature. Do not use excessive gel to compensate for a poor fit.

Application steps
Prepare and select. Choose sizes on dry nails, then prepare the natural nail and tip according to the products’ instructions.
Apply the required adhesion products. Nail prep, primer or base requirements depend on the reference. Do not substitute products without checking their intended use.
Position the tip. Distribute the appropriate amount of gel and position the tip to limit bubbles. Avoid skin contact and remove overflow before curing.
Cure according to the protocol. Follow the gel’s specified lamp, time and stages. Initial flash fixation does not replace complete curing.
Finish. Check the application, adjust shape if needed, then apply colour and top coat according to their instructions.

Care and removal
Wear depends on preparation, tip fit, application and daily use. Do not simply glue a lifted area back down without checking the application.
Check removal instructions for the tips, gel and finish: systems differ. Where a product is soak-off, follow its soaking procedure. Never pull off tips or force removal.

How does this differ from an overlay?
A full-cover tip adds an extension. An overlay reinforces the natural nail without necessarily adding length. Compare the overlay guide and bottled builder gels.
Can any base attach a tip?
Use a gel specifically intended for tip attachment. A gel polish base is not automatically an adhesive gel. Check the Nail Glue Gel product page for its uses.
